Welcome to the Itlay portion of this blog... I spent 6 weeks in Italy with Craig, Kari and Vinny! We took little side trips from where she lives and our first trip was to Rome! We flew from Treviso airport to Rome and then took a bus into the city.. The flight was only 1 hour and much cheaper than the 6 hour train ride. We were in the city and in our hotel room by 11 am and off we went to the Colosseum. We had a great time there and then we went up to the Palatine Hill.


This is the area that was first settled and the Palace was built there.. In the valley below we find the forum and so we wondered down there for awhile.
There is always someone that would like some of your euro and we just could not resist Vinny getting to pose with a Gladiator. So we parted with 5 euro to get some pictures and we were received in audience by Emporer Vinson Alexander Smith.





The view on the right is from the Colosseum towards the forum. We did a lot of walking that day and it was very warm. There is fresh water many places in the city as some of the aquaducts are still working after hundreds of years. We did prefer the frozen water that you could purchase from the vendors on the street.

After many hours of walking and enjoying the city we went back to our hotel, and took a shower, then we went to dinner at a small restaurant and ate pizza. It was okay, but don't look to me, I am not a pizza lover. I have never had a great meal in Rome, but that could be my fault, not knowing the best places to eat. We did enjoy live entertainment, the one man band was pretty good. We were tired from all the walking and so we retired early to start the next day.
